WORKSHOP FAQS
Who are these workshops for?
These are meant for women before, during and after experiencing menopause. We ALL need to start talking about it in order to change how women experience it. I typically present to groups of women in the San Francisco Bay Area, but am not opposed to traveling elsewhere or considering virtual options.
How long are they?
With questions, discussion, inevitable socializing (often snacks, beverages or a meal are involved), and breaks, these workshops usually last 3 – 4 hours. You are definitely worth this time investment.
Why are they that long?
Because our bodies and their hormones are complicated. And because one of those hormones, estrogen, affects not just our breasts and reproductive systems, but ALL of our body systems. And because you deserve at least this amount of time to learn about your health and wellbeing and the natural and expected life change that inevitably occurs to 50% of humans.
AND because three to four hours is nothing compared to seven years, which is the average amount of time women report experiencing perimenopausal symptoms. Three to four hours is less time than most spend going to dinner and a movie, and those activities don't usually have the ability to change the world.
What? How will this workshop change the world?
We must educate ourselves about menopause and engage with others about it in order to change how women experience it moving forward and, more broadly, how society views it and the women who have gone through it. We owe this time to ourselves and to all future women. The sad truth is that the majority of medical residents admit they don't feel comfortable managing menopause upon completing their training programs due to their own lack of education thereof. If women start educating themselves about it and demanding thoughtful and competent care for its symptoms, this will have to change.
How do I sign up for a workshop?
As of now, I'm only able to offer private workshops. If you are interested in hosting one, please contact me!
Where do the workshops take place?
Most workshops are held at a site (often a home) decided on by the host, who invites the workshop attendees.
How many people should I plan on inviting to a workshop?
These workshops are ideal for small to medium-sized groups (4-20ish people), in order to support candid and intimate conversation, but I am happy to discuss accommodating smaller or larger sized groups.
Do I have to talk? Will I be called on or forced to participate in embarassing conversations or activities?
No one will be forced to talk or engage in forced fun or forced embarrassment. You can just come to listen.
